We at Taylor Design Healthy Homes have designed a number of small portable easy to set up and move small "healthy homes" primarily for emergency living. These little houses have been build and used for equipment rooms, sleeping rooms and so on, affording the client a clean retreat or a small contained space to house equipment such as refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers. For short term emergency living, these small "homes" are an economic solution for sensitive people in crisis mode.
The nature of the designs is that they can be easily transported to any place in the country or over seas. Set up is very simple.
Our simple designs are created to fit into a suburban environment without causing a stir! More elaborate gingerbread, victorian, southwest or eclectic designs are available through our custom design facilities.

USES
Our safe prefab houses come in a number of different use types, from clean rooms design to equipment rooms with full wiring for 110 volt to 220 volts.
"Clean rooms" are used for sleeping, a safe retreat or emergency living, and can have all or no facilities. The clean rooms with no facilities are obviously less costly to purchase and to set up than a full service building with plumbing and water. Our "clean room" status is reserved for spaces that have no facilities in them, all of which do introduce a number of low level contaminants, such as water or high humidity which increases the potential for mold growth, and plumbing which has certain questionable materials. Clean rooms generally have ceramic floors with lightly colored inert walls and ceilings.
A standard design will have appliances or other equipment necessary for full time living. Floors may be special hardwood, ceramic, or other inert materials.
"Equipment rooms" may be required if a client has a safe space to live in but wants to separate all appliances from that clean space. These little buildings can be used as kitchens with stoves and sinks, laundry rooms with washers and dryers, or even bathrooms with tubs and showers. Removing all this equipment from a sensitive persons sleeping area may be critical from an air quality standpoint, giving them a critical edge for a healing environment. |

MATERIALS
Materials, interior and exterior, cover a full range from standard to inert materials. We have a selection of wall and ceiling materials that we have been using successfully for years that are 99% of the time acceptable. For those who are interested in options, we do have a full assortment of other materials, which range from less to more expensive. This increased weight factor or certain materials may introduce certain difficulties for the transport and set up, that translates into costs.
All our designs can be super insulated for cold weather use. All our buildings are energy efficient and quality designed and built, so there are no maintenance problems do the line.
Each structure is designed and built to be vastly structurally superior to regular housing, able to with stand loading on a truck, transport and setting up in varied environments without structural stress or damage. We have developed special systems for floor and wall panels which make them extra strong and able to stand up to all kinds of abuse, without any risk to their structural integrity.
We do solar electric or photo voltaic for off the grid power use, and solar hot water as well.
All our wiring is done to eliminate electromagnetic problems, and interior odor from plastics and oil. |

DELIVERY TIME
Time for completion depends on our current client load and work schedules. Generally we are a month out for the completion of a clean room design, and we may have pre-built structures available on site for testing and for immediate delivery. Once the details of your project have been received with your deposit, we will be underway. Special order materials and equipment may take us extra time. These buildings may take from 6 months to 8 months to complete.
COSTS
Costs start at $25,000.00 and go up depending on size of the building and the equipment required.
An 8' x 10' clean room with a minimal 20 amp 110 volt lighting circuit is our least costly structure.
Our standard sizes go up to 16 wide by 25 long, but custom designs can be drawn up according to requirements.
Delivery costs must be computed relative to distance from our site in Vermont. Special cases may require site built structures. |
